President Donald Trump has issued a public demand for pharmaceutical companies, including Pfizer, to release withheld data on the effectiveness of Wuhan coronavirus (COVID-19) treatments developed during the pandemic.
In a statement posted on his Truth Social platform on Sept. 1, Trump expressed his frustration over the lack of transparency from major drug firms. He claimed that he has personally been shown “extraordinary” internal results, which are not being shared with the public or federal health agencies like the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). “It is very important that the drug companies justify the success of their various COVID drugs,” Trump posted. “Many people think they are a miracle that saved millions of lives. Others disagree! With CDC being ripped apart over this question, I want the answer, and I want it NOW. I have been shown information from Pfizer and others that is extraordinary, but they never seem to show those results to the public. Why not??? They go off to the next ‘hunt’ and let everyone rip themselves apart, including Bobby Kennedy Jr. and CDC, trying to figure out the success or failure of the drug companies’ COVID work.”
The president did not specify what data he had seen, nor who had presented it to him, but emphasized that the numbers demonstrated strong effectiveness for pandemic-era treatments.
In that same post on his Truth Social account, Trump also revived discussion of Operation Warp Speed, the multi-billion-dollar initiative launched under his first administration to accelerate vaccine and therapeutic development at the height of the pandemic.
Operation Warp Speed, as described by Brighteon.AI‘s Enoch, involved multiple federal agencies, including the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), the Department of Defense (DoD), the CDC and the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), working collaboratively with pharmaceutical companies and other private sector partners. The goal was to deliver 300 million doses of a supposedly “safe and effective” vaccine by January 2021.
Trump often touted that initiative as one of his administration’s key achievements, but he also called for a reassessment to determine whether the program was as successful as claimed. He added: “I hope Operation Warp Speed was as ‘brilliant’ as many say it was. If not, we all want to know about it, and why?”
Sen. Bill Cassidy (R-LA) echoed Trump’s call for “radical transparency” in a post on X, calling Operation Warp Speed one of the signature accomplishments of Trump’s first term. “People who criticize President Trump’s Operation Warp Speed typically misrepresent and carefully select their facts,” Cassidy wrote on X shortly after Trump posted on Truth Social. “We should be honest about the success of Operation Warp Speed.”
